Spring Hill Greens is a local Fort Collins farm that strives to be entirely carbon-neutral. **So naturally, they would need an extensive solar system to generate sufficient power for their entire farm to be energy self-sufficient.** However, Spring Hill Greens required more land to support a conventional ground-mount solar array. What they needed was an **[Agrivoltaic](https://sandboxsolar.com/services/agrivoltaics/)** solution. So they called their local agrivoltaic solar company, [**Sandbox Solar**](https://sandboxsolar.com).

With our a[grivoltaic](https://sandboxsolar.com/agrivoltaics/) expertise, we were confident that we could find a unique solution that would benefit both the plants and the farmers. **So we constructed a custom** **[bifacial solar fence](https://sandboxsolar.com/bifacial-solar-fence-agrivoltaics-fort-collins/)** to meet Spring Hill Greens’ energy needs while optimizing their solar land use. We placed these bifacial solar fences between their greenhouses, land that would otherwise be unused. 

**“Why are the fences vertical?”** you may ask. Well, this is where our agrivoltaics team comes into play. A standard solar fence angled at the sun would not fit. However, a vertical solar fence would. Meanwhile, we noticed their greenhouses have UV reflective film coverings to protect their plants from excessive sun exposure. **To capture these reflected rays, we utilized bifacial solar panels that harness UV rays from both sides.**
